Thursday April 6th: Orchestra Concert with special commerative feature!!!
Come enjoy and celebrate 100 years of Lowell's music curriculum with the 2017 Spring Orchestra Concert. This concert has as a special feature: the first performance of a piece commissioned for this event. 7 to 9pm, admission is free. If you are interested in taking college classes, apply to the dual enrollment program, its free for high school students.
CCSF Early College/Dual Enrollment summer course offerings are now available. The steps to completing enrollment are included on the summer packet cover page and below:
Step 1: All students who wish to take summer courses should first sign-up at https://tinyurl.com/hh20pga
Step 2: All students choose courses from the list in the attached packet.
Step 3: All students complete a Consent Form; select at least 3 choices and include student, parent/guardian, and counselor signatures.
Step 4: CURRENT Early College students should turn completed Consent Forms into their counselor.
NEW students should bring their Consent Form to the Application session in April.
Step 5: NEW students only: Attend an Application Session to apply to CCSF and learn more about the program. Current students do not need to apply to CCSF.
Step 6: All students: Attend an Orientation/Registration session in May. Dates and times will be announced via email. New and returning students must attend to register for classes.

Thanks to the PTSA's continued support and generous funding, Lowell is able to offer students Health Education courses this summer again. This year, classes will be held at Balboa High School's campus. According to the tentative calendar of the district summer school programs, courses may be offered in two sessions (dates are tentative and may change according to district summer school dates).

CLASS LIST WILL BE POSTED OUTSIDE ROOM 140 WHERE THE APPLICATION ENVELOPE WAS LOCATED.
PLEASE BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR MORE UP TO DATE INFORMATION, SUCH AS CLASSROOM LOCATIONS AT BALBOA, AND OFFICIAL CLASS TIME.

This is an update for families who submitted applications by January 13, 2017 for an SFUSD school assignment. We are on track to send assignment letters via first class mail on Monday evening, March 20. Families should receive letters starting on Tuesday, March 21. The registration deadline has been extended by a week to April 21.
Please do not come to the Educational Placement Center for information about your assignment, as staff will not have any information on Monday regarding assignments.
We recognize that you may be deciding next steps regarding independent and private schools. Please note that no information about assignments will be available before March 21. If you need information before your letter arrives, please email EnrollinSchool@sfusd.edu and we will do what we can to help you after March 21.

The Teens Tackle Tobacco Leadership youth committee from SFUSD's School Health Programs office is sponsoring an Anti-Tobacco/Vape Public Service Announcement Contest for all middle and high school students. There are three categories (middle school, high school or LGBTQ) and two entry modes (poster or video). All entries will receive FREE movie tickets for participating in the contest!
Videos should be no more than 90 seconds long, and posters should be either 8.5" x 11" or 9" x 12" in any medium. Entries are due on April 3.

Do you need to make up or take classes to graduate high school? Our summer school offers “a-g” courses for credit recovery. Students in the 11th and 12th grades with "F" course grades will receive priority registration. Registration begins on April 5 and ends May 22.

Locations: Galileo HS (Senior Summer School), Balboa HS, Mission HS, and O'Connell HS
The High School Outreach Conference (HSOC) is an annual event hosted at UCSF that aims to get students excited about college and professional programs. We bring together volunteers from various schools at UCSF, including dental, nursing, medical, graduate, pharmacy, and physical therapy programs, to host high school students joining us from all around the Bay Area.

Chevron will be selecting 20 outstanding high school students (rising juniors and rising seniors are eligible to apply) from across the U.S. to attend the Chevron sponsored summer educational camp, "Frontiers of Energy Resources", hosted at the University of Southern California and scheduled for June 25 – 30, 2017.
