  • How can I arrange a campus visit? Are there special visitation days on your campus?
  • What are the application deadlines for admission and financial aid?
  • What are the strongest, most unique, and/or alternative academic programs available?
  • How accessible are the professors outside of class?
  • Do students receive prompt feedback on academic performance?
  • How often do students talk with faculty members about what they are learning in class?
  • How often do students talk with advisors or faculty members about their career plans?
  • How many students study abroad?
  • Academic calendar: Semesters? Quarters? Trimesters?
  • What types of extra-curricular activities are there on campus?
  • What is residence life like? Co-ed dorms? Housing availability?
  • How are roommates selected?
  • What are on-campus food offerings?
  • What is the social life like?
  • What athletic programs are available? Interscholastic? Dorms or Clubs? Intramurals?
  • What is the campus like? Distance between classes? Bike paths?
  • What is the surrounding community like?

 

 

Further Questions to ask When Visiting a College Campus

 

  • Is it possible to sit in on a class? Eat a meal? Stay overnight in a dorm?
  • What are your Study Abroad programs?
  • What health and counseling services are available?
  • What types of career planning and job placement services are available?
  • How many students get practical, real-world experience through internships or off-campus field experience?
  • How much writing is expected? How much reading is expected?
  • Are faculty members accessible and supportive?
  • How often do students discuss ideas in class?
  • How often are topics from class discussed outside of the classroom?
  • Do students work together on projects inside and outside of class?
  • How often do students make class presentations?
  • What kind of activities are students involved in outside of the classroom?
  • When must a major be declared? Dual-Majors possible?
